How to Choose Custom Disposable Aprons for Your Restaurant
Learn how to choose custom disposable aprons for your restaurant. Compare PE and non-woven materials, apron styles, MOQ and logo printing options.
Disposable aprons protect customers’ clothing while giving restaurants another opportunity to display their logo and brand. The right choice depends on four main factors: protection, comfort, cost and order quantity. This guide compares PE and non-woven disposable aprons to help you select a suitable option.
Quick Choice
- Choose PE aprons for waterproof protection, good oil resistance and a lower unit cost.
- Choose non-woven aprons for better breathability, a softer feel and a lower customization MOQ.
- Choose a pullover style for quick and easy distribution.
- Choose a tie-back style for a more secure and adjustable fit.
PE vs Non-Woven Disposable Aprons
| Feature | PE Aprons | Non-Woven Aprons |
|---|---|---|
| Material feel | Smooth plastic film | Soft and fabric-like |
| Waterproof protection | Waterproof | Suitable for common dining situations |
| Oil resistance | Good | Suitable for light food stains |
| Breathability | Limited | Better |
| Cost | Lower | Generally higher |
| Standard MOQ | 5,000 pieces | 1,000 pieces |
| Best suited for | Seafood, crawfish and messy dining | Hot pot, BBQ and branded dining |
The lowest unit price does not always mean the lowest purchasing risk. PE aprons are more economical for large-volume daily use, while non-woven aprons may be easier for smaller restaurants or first custom orders because of their lower MOQ.

PE Disposable Aprons
PE disposable aprons are made from lightweight polyethylene film. They provide a waterproof barrier and help protect clothing from water, soup, sauces, oil and food splashes.
Their main advantage is cost. PE aprons are an economical choice for restaurants that distribute large quantities every day.
They are especially suitable for:
- Seafood restaurants
- Crawfish, crab and lobster restaurants
- Restaurants serving oily or saucy food
- Food festivals and outdoor dining events
PE aprons are available in different sizes, thicknesses, colors and wearing styles.
Non-Woven Disposable Aprons
Non-woven aprons are softer and more breathable than PE aprons. Their fabric-like appearance can also provide a more presentable customer experience.
They are not as waterproof as PE film, but their protection is generally sufficient for common restaurant dining situations.
They are suitable for:
- Hot pot restaurants
- BBQ restaurants
- Casual dining restaurants
- Restaurant promotions and branded events
- Cooking, painting and craft activities
Some buyers call them paper aprons or disposable paper aprons. However, they are usually made from lightweight non-woven material rather than ordinary paper. Non-woven material is softer and less likely to tear when exposed to light moisture.

Pullover or Tie-Back?
Pullover Aprons
Pullover aprons are placed over the head and do not require waist ties. They are quick to distribute and easy for customers to wear.
They are a practical choice for busy restaurants, events and activities where convenience is important.
Tie-Back Aprons
Tie-back aprons can be adjusted around the waist for a more secure fit and good front coverage.
PE tie-back aprons are particularly suitable for seafood, crawfish and lobster restaurants where soup, sauce and oil stains are common.
Disposable Bibs
Disposable bibs mainly protect the chest area. They are suitable when a restaurant needs simple, easy-to-wear protection instead of a full-length apron.
Custom Printing and Packaging
PE aprons can be printed with single-color or multicolor designs. Gravure printing is commonly used for printing on PE film.
Non-woven aprons can use flexographic or screen printing, depending on the artwork, printing area and order quantity.
For an initial order, a simple one-color logo is usually the most economical option. More printing colors and complex artwork may increase plate costs, production requirements and MOQ.
For the best printing result, vector artwork such as AI, EPS or PDF is preferred.
Available customization options include:
- Apron size and thickness
- Material color
- Logo and artwork
- Printing colors and areas
- Bulk or individual packaging
